Updated OMS Book Launch in Canberra

Canberra’s OMS support group Taking Control has recently been reinvigorated and what better way to kick things off than to launch Professor George Jelinek’s newly updated book Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis? The group was thrilled when Karen Law, who co-authored with Professor Jelinek Recovering from Multiple Sclerosis, agreed to travel from her home on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to the ACT to launch the book. Karen shared her own personal story including how her family had embraced the OMS lifestyle. As a musician, Karen is used to performing and it showed! She was relaxed and spoke with clarity and great passion.

A  good crowd attended including new people, some of whom said that they could no longer ignore their MS and had been looking for a new approach, along with family members young and old.

Wonderful support for the event was provided by a small core of Taking Control members and their families in addition to the energetic staff from the local MS (the organisation) and Sandy Clinton from The Gawler Cancer Foundation who provided great encouragement and resources.

Feedback included: ‘Congratulations to you for the OMS book launch. And what a coup to have Karen Law present!’ And, ‘A big thank you for the book launch. I found the talk very interesting and extremely inspiring’.

Karen’s warm and natural style captured the hearts of the audience. She finished her talk by singing one of her original songs Breathe In, Breathe Out, which she encouraged the audience to join in with.

It was a memorable event!
