Janne joined the board in 2009, was elected Vice President in 2011, served as Acting President throughout 2013 and as President from March 2014 – May 2019.
As a marketing specialist, Janne has lived, and worked in senior management roles, in Australia, Asia and the UK with experience in the housing, hospitality, sporting, industrial, education, textile and environmental industries. Career includes the role of Marketing Manager for adidas, Director of Marketing and Sales for Grand Hyatt Melbourne and Hotel Mulia Senayan (Jakarta) together with consultancy for two of the big four professional services firms and currently in her own business.
Janne was introduced to an lifestyle approach to cancer by her husband’s oncologist at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital in Perth. Through the Professor’s recommendations, services offered at the hospital and counselling from Cancer Support WA, combined with her husband, Paul’s, own research they spent over six months formulating what is rudimentary TGCF’s key principles. A positive attitude was one attribute of which Janne was already aware as when eight, her Mother, Olga, was diagnosed with cancer but, through sheer determination not to leave two young children, outlived her prognosis by over thirty years.
Paul died – contently – in 2005 after incorporating all possible lifestyle changes with his traditional medical treatments. Since joining the board, Janne’s key vision has been to improve and broaden access for newly diagnosed, to the full range of lifestyle changes that can be easily incorporated into whatever treatment plan they choose, to improve their cancer journey.
