Information for Health Professionals

When considering referring a patient to The Gawler Cancer Foundation you may find the following information helpful.

What we do

The Gawler Cancer Foundation believes in an integrative approach to healthcare. This may include the best of Mainstream Medicine, Complementary Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. The term Lifestyle Medicine applies to lifestyle and behavior modifications, relevant to the treatment and prevention of disorders attributed to lifestyle factors such as; chronic stress, poor nutrition, physical inactivity.

Our programs teach the practices and explain the benefits of; regular meditation, good nutrition, effective support, moderate exercise, emotional healing, quest for meaning and power of mind to support the prevention and management of chronic illness.

To make the most of an integrative approach we encourage supportive communication and collaboration between healthcare providers and of course the patient. Every healing journey is an individual experience and we encourage people to play an active role.

What we don’t do

The Gawler Cancer Foundation is not a medical facility and we do not administer any treatments, our approach is strictly lifestyle-based.

We do not prescribe a one shoe fits all approach or discourage participants from pursuing mainstream medical treatment options.

We do not claim to have the cure for cancer. Our mission is to improve the recovery outcomes and quality of life for people affected by cancer or multiple sclerosis and to educate people in the prevention of illness, through the delivery of our evidence-based lifestyle education programs.

Financial Support

The Gawler Cancer Foundation is a not for profit organisation. We have a dedicated bursary program to assist people living with cancer and experiencing financial hardship, to be able to attend one of our cancer retreat programs.
