For over 30 years we’ve been helping people find a better quality of life after a cancer diagnosis. The lifestyle practices we teach have helped people find hope (backed by action), empowerment and inner peace… we’ve seen prognoses challenged and lives transformed…
Hearing the words ‘you’ve got cancer’ will undoubtedly change your life forever. It’s what you do next that makes a difference.
Aleksandra, a participant from our Sept/Oct 2015 Life & Living Cancer Retreat Program, shares her thoughts and feelings at the conclusion of the retreat.
Here at The Gawler Cancer Foundation we believe in a complete mind-body approach in the management of life after cancer diagnosis.
The way you live your life day today and the choices you make can have a positive or negative impact on your state of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing; and the lifestyle practices we promote are all research-based practices widely recognised for their health and wellbeing benefits.
During our cancer retreats you will be immersed in these practices, also known as our 7 Essential Elements to promote healing, boost immunity, reduce stress and create clarity of mind at a time when it’s needed most.
You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with others on a similar journey and make an active plan for today and the future.
Working from the roots up, you’ll have the time and space to explore your own emotional wellbeing, your deeper purpose and meaning in life, your support networks and your relationships with others.
Our gentle and compassionate team are highly qualified and experienced to support you from diagnosis to developing a lifestyle action plan and putting what you learn at The Gawler Cancer Foundation into practice for realistic physical, mental and emotional results.
The lifestyle practices promoted through our programs, will safely support any mainstream medical treatments and complementary therapies you choose as part of your overall treatment plan.
There are a range of cancer retreat options available to you. Our most comprehensive cancer retreat is called Life and Living. Over ten nights, this indepth retreat provides ample time to develop a regular mindfulness meditation practice, and explore the benefits and application of a wide range of self-help lifestyle practices.
If you’re looking for a shorter experience, our midweek Cancer Fundamentals retreat runs for four nights and concentrates on the key principles of our ten night Life and Living retreat to help manage and overcome the challenges of cancer.
For those who have already attended a cancer program at our centre, we invite you to consider our Cancer and Beyond follow-up retreat to delve deeper into the lifestyle approach.
Whichever retreat appeals to you, a very special experience awaits…
